John Jordan (right), a hero of the siege of Sarajevo. A Rhode Island fireman and ex-Marine, he took it upon himself to go and join the Sarajevo fire brigade. He raised money in the USA for everything from boots to helmets and even fire trucks, and somehow got them into town. Here he waits at the airport for a flight out, on his way back to America for more fundraising. He ended up working for the UN.
